Bob Knoll
Born: April 1964, Fulda, Germany
My passion for photography began when I was handed my first camera at the age of thirteen. Growing up as the youngest of four in a military family, opportunities to travel the world became part of my life. I spent much time in Europe with its history and beauty however, it was during a move to Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1977 when I had my first hands-on experience with film and a wet-dark room developing my own black and white pictures at the local hobby shop. In 1980 we moved to Nurnberg, Germany which was one of many moves to Europe that presented me with a breathtaking historical backdrop in which to develop an eye for the art of photography. After high school we moved back to Kentucky and a military career of my own started in the Kentucky Army National Guard that spanned over twenty years. After retiring from the Army I spent eight years as the owner of a small landscaing company in Elizabethtown, KY. I currently enjoy working for the Department of the Army on Fort Knox, KY, in addition to fulfilling my life long passion in attempting to master the art of my true love for photography.
I have resided in the Hardin county area for twenty years with my wife Suzie. Although Suzie's full-time career is a middle school teacher, she loves to assist me on photo shoots and offers a detailed perspective of my photographs. We have two very active children with our oldest being our son Nick and our daughter Rachel, who both humor me by volunteering to be my subjects when I want to try something new and creative.
